What is salvation?
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 In its simplest form, salvation is deliverance (freedom) from the authority and control of sin. God made a way for mankind to be redeemed back unto Him. Jesus paid the price for us to be delivered from sin, sickness and disease, poverty, fear and spiritual death. Jesus Christ died for our sins so that we can receive spiritual redemption and eternal salvation.
Salvation is a gift made available to all who repent, believe and confess that Jesus is Lord, believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He died and rose from the dead to save mankind. Eternal salvation cannot be earned through good deeds or by simply being a good person. Eternal salvation and security is only obtained by believing God’s Word concerning salvation and accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior and lord over your life... by saying a simple prayer and believing God's Word in First Corinthians 5:17 "therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new."
Pray This PrayerHeavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. Your Word says, “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” in Acts 2:21, and I am calling on You. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10 that if I confess with thy mouth and believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, that I will be saved. I believe in my heart and confess (or profess) with my mouth, that Jesus is Lord in my life. I accept Jesus in my heart. I am saved from eternal separated from God. I am born-again! I am saved. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus! AMEN.
Okay, I am now saved! So what's next? What do I do now?First -- Tell someone! Tell a friend or family member that you have given your life to Christ! You are on a new path now. It does not mean that you won't make mistakes, or that you are now somehow perfect. No, that's not true. It means that the inside of you, the real you, the spirit on the inside of you has been renewed, and the holy spirit of God has now become reside in you. God commands us to study and learn His Word, to know how to live a Godly Christian life, and become more Christ-like.
Second -- You need to ask God to direct you to a good Bible-Believing and Bible-Teaching church, a church that sticks to the Word of God, and does not water down or compromise the Word to fit culture or societal norms. It is vitally important to individual spiritual growth to have a local church to attend weekly Worship Services and Bible Study; to get plugged-in there, get to know and fellowship (hang out with) other like-minded born-again Christian Believers. The Word of God is TRUTH! and as a newly born-again Believer, it is very important to begin reading the Bible. Down the Bible App. Get a new Bible. A good place to start reading is two fold: Old Testament (start with the Book of Genesis) and the New Testament (start with the Book of John).
